The Most Succesful Team in FIFA World Cup, The Brazil

As member of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) since 1923 and also a member of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) since 1916, Brazil national football team is the most successful national football team in the history of the FIFA World Cup, with five championships. Controlled by the governing body Brazil known as the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is the international men’s football club of Brazil, who represents their country. With three titles in the FIFA Confederations Cup, they are the most successful team that bears International shirts. Brazil at continental level has won eight Copa America titles.

Ranked fifth in the FIFA Confederations Cup after winning the 2005 and the 2009 edition of the tournament and considered one of the most competitive teams every decade and strongest football nation in the world since 1960. The only national football team to play in every World Cup finals is Brazil.

Brazil is the only team to have won the championship in four different continents; once in Europe (1958 Sweden), once in South America (1962 Chile), twice in North America (1970 Mexico and 1994 USA) and once in Asia (2002 S. Korea-Japan). A common quip about football is: Os ingleses o inventaram, os brasileiros o aperfei§oaram (The English invented it, the Brazilians perfected it).

Various nicknames of the Brazilian national team is known in different parts of the world. Selecao, which literally means the selection is the most common one used to refer them, in Brazil especially.

White with blue collars were the team’s first team Football jersey colours, but in the 1950 World Cup, the colours were criticised for lacking patriotism after their defeat. The newspaper Correio da Manh£ to design a kit incorporating the four colours of the Brazilian flag, held a competition with permission from the Brazilian Sports Confederation. A yellow jersey with green trim and blue shorts with white trim drawn by a nineteen year old from Pelotas, Aldyr Garcia Schlee designed the winning art. In March 1954 in a match against Chile, the new Brazil football shirts were first used .

In any parts of the world, Brazil national football team is amazingly famous. By mentioning the football term, Brazil national football team will always be remembered as the team with full winning spirit.
